On the other hand, most of the societies do not want a few people in Silicon Valley, or in some other big tech to dictate how we should relate to one another. So just like social media, many people would prefer the social media instead of selling our attention to the highest bidder, they would prefer that social media have more bridging content, more shared experience and so on. However, without ethics input, the social media network systems are designed in such a way that it pulls people, streamlines the social fabric, and then sell our attention to the highest bidder, and so had it been designed with ethics in mind they will come up with very different business models.
