To me, AI ethics represents the technologies and methodologies to imbue the human society’s preferences into the whole cycle of AI development so that we ensure that the AI systems that we make conform to the societal expectations, understand the social context and norms, and is steerable by the unity. Without AI ethics, it’s like a car that is has a very fixed place to go, and the only thing you can do is to hit the brakes or hit the gas pedal. That is to say, to decelerate or to accelerate.
