Japan is at the forefront in this area, perhaps because the needs arising from an aging population are more urgent than elsewhere. The innovative approaches I’ve seen in Japan are designed from a “sustainable high-tech” perspective, rather than just trying to make quick profits for the next quarter at the expense of human connection and meaning.
