So how do we do that? The people’s idea was that if it’s an advertisement claiming it’s from Audrey Tang, then it needs my digital signature endorsing it. That’s it. If Facebook, for example, does not secure my signature and somebody gets scammed out of two million dollars, then starting this year, Facebook in Taiwan is liable for that two million. Fraud, scams, and financial damage can be combated in a way that doesn’t involve censorship but instead requires people paying for the ad to sign it digitally. That’s the Anti-Fraud Act, a very sensible piece of legislation I hope other jurisdictions consider. Also, the idea of finding pro-freedom, non-censorship solutions is something governments around the world can engage their people in.
