Trusted CEO.
To trust .
Definitely. I think, for me, this is not about citizens trusting the government, but about the government trusting the citizens. Only when we trust the citizens can some of the citizens trust back with co-creation.
Yes. I think the government should fully trust the citizens. When we say mutual trust , all too often, people think it’s the people should trust the government, which will lead to people trusting each other.
Yes. Trust us, and don’t criticize. It is a very complicated plan. “You must trust us, and we don’t trust you to understand.”
Antivirus company do that to your computer all the time. If you trust Trend Micro, you trust Trend Micro. If you don’t trust Trend Micro, you don’t trust Trend Micro. That’s how antivirus works.
I think that’s right. The danger in this moment, and what’s so powerful about that articulation—‘to give no trust is to get no trust ’ (it’s actually a quote from the Tao Te Ching from Laozi)—is that it tells us it’s a cycle. It’s reciprocal. If you give no trust , you get less trust . Government trusts people less, people trust government less, government trusts people less.
The government need to trust the people. The people trust back however they want.
I would like the professional public servants to trust the people more. Usually other governments in the world, they would ask the people to trust the government more. To me, trust is mutual. If you cannot really trust people more, it’s impossible for people to trust you back.
Yeah, I remember the Taoist saying to give no trust is to get no trust . So instead of asking people to trust the organizers or a minister or the government, the organizers need to radically trust the people.
It needs to be earned. The way to earn trustworthiness is to trust the people.
Trustworthy Technology Center.
我是不會這樣說,我都會說relationship of trust 。
So trust seems to be one of the big issues around tech. Can we trust the current speed of technological developments? How do we build trust into this?
It’s not about citizen trusting the government more, that’s side effect. It’s about government trusting the citizen more, and also citizen trust each other more.
You talked a bit about trust . It’s both the government trusting the people and the people trusting the government. It seems to be almost like the oil that the machinery, this technology needs is trust . Trust not to misuse the data, trust that people are doing what they’re meant to be doing, or alerting the government when they need to be alerted. It’s a big question, [laughs] but how do you build trust in a society?
We will use speech-to-text through Azure Cognitive Services. I trust that you trust Azure?
This trusting the people with open data, trusting the people with social innovation is essential, and sometimes people trust back. Sometimes people don’t, but it’s all OK.
How did you build the trust through the years? How did you use the source you mentioned to build that trust through years and to use that trust now?
