And so we brainstormed better ways. And we did come up with better ways. For example, hosting human rights conferences like RightsCon. Giving Gold Card residency to people who contribute to open source, open science, and open access. We did that too. We advertised the way that we built our marriage equality by using Uncommon Ground so that the individual wed as individuals but their family don’t form kinship, and we made sure the world learns about that, first in Asia, and so on. So we ended up saving taxpayer money but achieving that “let Taiwan to be seen”—which is a more common, Uncommon Ground for both sides.
