So we turned to the people. We sent 200,000 text messages to random numbers around Taiwan asking only: How can we solve this issue together? And they gave us many good ideas. And thousands volunteered. We chose a statistically representative microcosm representing the population. And the mini-public met online in an Alignment Assembly using AI as assistive intelligence. In rooms of ten, each person looking at nine other people—45 rooms—the ideas start getting weaved by small language models. A process usually would take human facilitators a week. They came up with brilliant, brilliant solutions.
