Audrey Tang’s vita is overwhelming and we will hear about it later. Let me say only one thing in this respect: While she developed her extraordinary innovative capacity largely outside the formal system of education, starting her own firm at the age of 19 and becoming a minister at the age of 35—on top of that for a totally new portfolio whose relevance she previously demonstrated to the existing government—her successful approach to combine scientific excellence with the art of politics and a deep civic motivation for people’s empowerment and a strengthening of democracy is exemplary for what we would also love our students to take away from their studies at our university.
