But are we going to empower society and the environment with an infrastructure built on a Ponzi‑like scheme that extracts water, energy, data, raw materials, and labor—and enriches a few billionaires? It’s incredible—and outrageous. We should refuse this model. Not because Elon Musk might become the first trillionaire (though that’s outrageous), but because this extractivist planetary architecture of oligarchy doesn’t match what we need. That doesn’t mean we reject AI’s potential. It means we ensure AI serves social and environmental sustainability, workers, green and better cities, healthcare, and education. Can we do that on top of an extractive machine that creates new divides?
