In fact, last year when we faced a new wave of deepfake scams in March, we sent 200,000 text messages to random numbers around Taiwan asking one simple question: “How do you feel about this new challenge to information integrity? What should we do about it?” People gave us their ideas, thousands volunteered for an online citizens’ assembly, and we chose 447 people statistically representative of the Taiwanese population (gender, occupation, place they live, etc.).
