Well, I mean, we’ve been doing “meronymity,” or partial real-name, partial anonymity, for quite a while now. On the national platform of participation, join.gov.tw, anybody can collect 5,000 signatures and force a national-level policy discussion, deliberation, or participatory budgets, and so on. But on those forums, if somebody claims they’re a resident of, say, Taipei City, they only reveal that they’re a resident of Taipei City, but nothing else. This idea of meronymity is very powerful because it enables us to authentically know that we’re not interacting with robots.
