As I mentioned, the authoritarian narrative is not just about censorship but about pushing the idea that freedom only leads to chaos, that it only leads to infighting. This idea is repeated by many people, not just the CCP, and basically encourages giving up hope that absolute freedom of speech and expression or assembly can coexist with mutual understanding. If we make it go viral that technology must advance freedom—and freedom can lead to shared understanding—that is a powerful countermeasure, a counter-narrative, to this notion that freedom only leads to infighting. Look at America, right? So I think we can all participate in this counter-narrative.
