In Taiwan, we have this idea of decentralized wallets, an infrastructure that allows people to digitally sign without revealing personal details. I can sign saying I’m a Taiwanese resident or even a resident of Taipei City if it’s a discussion about city budgets, but it doesn’t reveal my name, address, Social Security number, or anything else. This “selective disclosure” ensures it’s one person behind one account, making it impossible for a foreign actor to control 5,000 accounts. That’s also the sort of infrastructure that helps.
