Taiwan is the youngest tectonic island in the world — only four million years old. Plates collide. Mountains rise. Yushan, our highest peak, grows by half a centimetre every year from the pressure. We learned that when plates collide, you can treat the pressure as a disaster or as energy. We chose energy. That is what I mean by a geothermal democracy — conflict transformed into creative heat, powering something new.
