A clearer direction to look at this, I think, is as decisions taken fractally throughout the system to offload more and more decision-making and influence to AI systems . Because that’s what’s easiest, most locally convenient, and makes them win more. This isn’t a big plot to make humanity go extinct; it’s just what happens when everyone takes the natural “water flowing downhill” route, increasingly passing over the type of unbounded cognition they’ve been doing into AI systems.
