With autocracies like Iran, China, and Russia, mostly it’s about trying to just get people access to the internet. But in an autocracy, firstly, they are the only ones that have an internet that aligns well with their governing ideology. When we started in the early 2000s, we were like, well, the internet’s going to democratize everywhere. And in the end, actually, the only governments that it’s really worked out for are the CCP, who has exactly the internet they want. And Iran’s got this halal internet that it’s accelerating towards. And they have an easier job because of getting an internet that supports their society, because they disallow dissent.
